Biography

Sam Wittrock (she/her) is the Center Coordinator at the Csomay Center for Gerontological Excellence. In her role, Sam oversees the day-to-day operations of the Center and the implementation of the Center's strategic plan to advance innovations in research, education, and practice to promote optimal aging and quality of life in all older adults and their caregivers.

 

A University of Iowa alumna, Sam graduated with a joint master's degree in public health and urban and regional planning in 2016. Originally from Arcadia, IA (population: 400), Sam chose to pursue a career in public health after her grandmother lost a battle with breast cancer at age 53 and after she saw the impact of chronic illness in her small community.  She has spent the past 8 years working as a program coordinator in both the public and nonprofit sectors. Throughout her career, Sam has been involved in community outreach, grant writing, and resident-led initiatives to improve community health. As Center Coordinator, she leverages these experiences with a personal mission to support people in living longer, healthier lives.
