The Csomay Center is thrilled to announce the launch of the Friends of the Csomay Center this fall! This dedicated group has been established to enhance our visibility, expand our networks, and secure vital resources to support our mission.

In October, the Friends of the Csomay Center gathered for a two-part event to lay the group’s foundation. These meetings provided an opportunity for members to connect and learn more about the Center.

The first part, held virtually, allowed participants to share their experiences with aging and their interest in joining, while more about the Center’s philanthropic roots.

The second part took place at the College of Nursing, featuring presentations from Dr. Deema Totah and Amanda Lensing on the Science and Art of Aging. Attendees also met with the Csomay Community of Scholars and Aging Hub, discussed common goals, and learned about current College of Nursing initiatives from Executive Associate Dean, Dr. Sandra Daack-Hirsch.

Additionally, Dayna Ballantyne from the University of Iowa Center for Advancement spoke about the role of philanthropy at the University. Thanks to Rebecca Miller for capturing a few snapshots of the events (seen in the collage below).

As Director Dr. Leah Buck said, “We are all better together.” With this spirit of collaboration, we are excited to partner with the Friends to advance our mission of promoting optimal aging and quality of life for older adults and their caregivers. Stay tuned for further updates.
