The Certification Center is moving into the new future of supporting direct care workers and community colleges statewide with a new testing system.
In the last two months, Dr. Shalome Tonelli, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor of Instruction, Director of the Certification Center, and others have invested a significant amount of time in preparing for this transition. The old testing system is held on a computer in the back of the College of Nursing Information Technology’s office. “It was time to make this change happen,” says Dr. Tonelli.
The goals for this new system are to enhance security by migrating to cloud-based storage, to provide a good user experience, and simplify testing and reporting. These updates will allow for improved testing across Iowa.
Soon, the Certification Center will also be piloting options for virtual and remote testing to increase access and opportunity for students in rural areas to become certified direct care workers.
