Complex Care in the Community (CCIC) is a specialized group founded in 2016, comprised of clinical faculty nurses who have extensive experience practicing in community based settings with people with complex health care issues.

The faculty members who established CCIC meet weekly to discuss ongoing research and publications related to the complex health needs of individuals of all ages in community-based settings. Tess Judge-Ellis, Emily Sinnwell, Andrea Achenbach and Kitty Buckwalter are members of the CCIC. Faculty members frequently publish in scholarly journals and work collaboratively to promote these findings within the group and the broader academic community. The group has included DNP and PhD students as co authors and have worked with DNP students to publish their DNP projects.

Currently, the CCIC group is particularly focused on understanding the role of the dually prepared, psychiatric and primary care nurse practitioner in the care of complex patients.
