Welcome to the Barbara and Richard Csomay Center for Gerontological Excellence. Our Center is proud to be located within the University of Iowa College of Nursing.  Our rich 15-year heritage as a John A. Hartford Foundation Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence provides a strong foundation on which we continue to build.

Our ongoing goals of advancing nursing leadership in research, education and practice now extend to building interdisciplinary and community partnerships to advance discovery and adoption of best practices in older adult care and treatment.  We strive to develop diverse partnerships that support rapid implementation of innovative research and training projects, offer premier educational experiences for academic and continuing learners, and support use of evidence-based practices in care and treatment of older adults.

We welcome collaboration with individuals, services, care settings, educational providers, policy-makers and others who share our mission of advancing optimal health, well-being, and adaptive function – in spite of chronic illness – among older adults. We invite you to join us as we explore the opportunities to elevate quality of life and living for older people through collaborative, interdisciplinary research, education, and practice.
